Welcome to Our Community

With your help we can make a real difference.

With your help we can make a real difference.

In 2007 at St. Andrew’s International Primary School (SAIPS) we initiated a unique partnership between ourselves and eight local state primary schools, involving over 9000 children and 200 education professionals.  Our aim is to improve the quality of teaching and learning for all children and teachers in the Blantyre community.  This initiative known as the ‘Blantyre Learning Community Trust’ has the full support of the Department of Education at both national and local level.  It is our long term aim that this model of a partnership between an international school and local state schools be adopted throughout Malawi and eventually throughout Sub Saharan Africa.  We are pleased to confirm that we have now brought the first International High School into the project and will welcome a further 8 state secondary schools as their active partners.

We believe that if the quality of teaching and learning is poor then the country itself will remain poor.  All too often African countries have a poor image and a reputation for failing to meet the needs of their people.  In order to stand up and be counted amongst the leaders of the modern world we need to make some radical changes in our attitudes and embrace challenges with enthusiasm.  With your help we can make a real difference.  We’re not asking you to donate to provide food or emergency relief, but we are asking you to help us fund resources to equip the next generation with the tools and skills necessary to provide for themselves and their families, improving their quality of life and propelling the development of their country into the 21st century.

Appeal for the Active learning Centre

Can you help equip our active learning centre?

Can you help equip our active learning centre?

Can you help equip our Active Learning Centre for the benefit of all teachers and children of the BLC Trust?”

If you have ever visited Africa or any country that can be considered a ‘developing country’ you could be forgiven for believing that technology has no place in education in these countries. The first thing that strikes you as you enter a Malawian school for example, is the sheer number of students to teachers and the lack of the most basic resources.  Read more.

On Tuesday 24th of March 3 children from Std 6L, St. Andrew’s International Primary School, went to visit Kanjedza. When they got back to SAIPS designed a comic strip to show their classmates the conditions found at Kanjedza. More.
